New Kid on the Block
I'm becoming increasingly mindful of security while travelling. While I felt safe on our recent trip to Mexico, I did feel like I was drawing unnecessary attention to myself on my daily beach walks. (And I'm pretty sure it wasn't because of my funky hair style or new bathing suit ;-). My camera, especially with the long lenses, attracts attention. Since I'm off to England in a couple of weeks I asked my husband for an early birthday present. This is it - Canon's newly launched G1X.
Touted as "beyond anything the G-Series has seen before", it seems a good option for travelling. I have a G9, which I like, but the new G1X is in a new niche for Canon, a bridge between point and shoot and DSLR.
Its new 1.5-inch High-Sensitivity CMOS sensor boasts a light-sensitive area that's approximately 6.3 times larger than that of the G12. With 14.3 Megapixel sensor, new lens and DIGIC 5 Image Processor, the camera promises to deliver exceptional image quality. I think I'll like it's compact size and nondescript appearance. Now...I need play time...
