A Splash of Orange

Another HDR composite of three shots - one underexposed, one exposed correctly, and one overexposed.
I went down to the harbour again today to get some more shots of the rocks along the breakwall. The colour of the Sunburst lichen covering them really jumps out. No Swimming Yet
365-066. March 7, 2009. Yesterday's double-digit temperatures got me thinking about summer. This morning I walked along one of my favourite beaches in the area - Northwinds at Craigleith. This beach has a bit of everything - trees, shade. grass, sand, rocks, and shale. Wait, we're missing something - water! Hopefully the ice will start breaking up soon, and we'll see the beautiful blue waters of Georgian Bay!

365-064. March 5, 2009. Taken at Osler Bluff Ski Club in Collingwood. (This image is best viewed large.) I usually like to zoom in on my subject. To "tell this story" I needed as wide an angle as possible to capture the vastness of the mountain and show how totally alone this skier was. I'm not a skier, but I'm sure these conditions were heavenly!

365-059. Feb. 28, 2009. Collingwood harbour and Nottawasaga Bay frozen over. Growing up in this area, I don't remember a winter when the bay didn't freeze over. Now, it's no longer a given. Some years the bay doesn't freeze; other years it does.

There's serious risk-taking happening with this photo! I need to state right off the bat that I abhor having my picture taken! However when I awoke this morning, I knew that my photo for today would have to somehow revolve around the webcast I was doing. I set up my camera on the tripod, guessed at the aperture setting I'd need, and set it on self-timer to go off after the webcast started, (so I'd forget about it).
I wanted to use the light to focus on the communication, so I added a radial black to white gradient.

A Glimpse of Spring Through Cellophane

I shot this image partially through the cellophane wrap around the bouquet. 365-047. Feb. 16, 2009. It always looks awkward to see my husband balancing his laptop on the arm of the chair as he so generously lets Clyde lay claim to his lap! I took this shot many different ways. Each time I changed the focal length or the depth of field, the resulting image told a different story. This "story" gives the cat the leading role.
