While everything is calm at the nest site the cob takes some time for grooming.
In honour of Father's Day I've selected photos from the last couple of days that focus on the father-to-be, the cob. When I arrive at the nest each morning between 6:15 a.m. and 6:45 a.m., the cob is off feeding across the harbour. He usually returns around 7:00 to relieve the pen so she can go feed. I was surprised Friday morning to see find the cob asleep in the marshy area behind the nest. The other noteworthy element in this shot is the water level. It has really risen in the past couple of weeks.
