Daily Shoot - Create a composition that playfully incorporates text of some sort in it today. Make it meaningful to you if you can ( http://dailyshoot.com/assignments/362 ) .
I'm still exploring fallen leaves. I was drawn to this one by the back lighting and the way it had 'planted' itself in the lawn. This verse from Leonard Cohen's 'Anthem' came to mind, so so I added it as a texture.

Daily Shoot - Isolate your subject today in a photo you create today. Eliminate every distracting element possible ( http://dailyshoot.com/assignments/359 ) .
We've been blessed with gorgeous fall sunshine the past few days and the combination of warm light and long shadows makes for dramatic lighting. This backlit gazania, (the only one that hasn't succumbed to frost yet ), positively glowed in the morning light! Although I know the plant is absorbing the light, it appears to be the light source. This is Clyde's I'm-ignoring-you pose. Whenever I get the camera out, Clyde practically throws himself at my feet so I'll take his picture. November Whispers
2010 - Day 310. Nov. 6, 2010.
Daily Shoot - Sometimes, the best advice is to get closer. Today, get really close to your subject. Use a macro lens if you have one ( http://dailyshoot.com/assignments/356 ) .
This is a similar theme to yesterday's grasses shot ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/dibytes/5148253447/ ) , but the weather conditions were vastly different. Even though it is quite calm today, there is still a gentle movement of air among the grasses. Usually movement of any kind drives me nuts when I'm trying to take a macro shot. Today I decided to just let it be, and even bumped it up ever so slightly with my fractalius plugin.NovemberWhispers5151407079365 photosCollingwooddailyshootgrassesmacromotion blur

While not a harvest moon in the traditional sense, that is what came to mind when I saw the morning sky. Working River
2010 - Day 296. Oct. 23, 2010.
What a glorious afternoon I had being shown the beautiful sights of Windsor, Ontario by my Flickr buddy, windsordi ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/windsordi/ ) ! It's always such a treat to meet an online colleague face-to-face! Di, I can't thank you enough for the time you so generously shared to show me around.
Although I took dozens and dozens of shots that afternoon, I kept being drawn back to this one. Collingwood, where I live, was once a shipbuilding town, an industrial hub for the area. Now at the heart of an ever-growing tourist centre, we've lost most of our industrial base. I like this shot of the 'working' river.
I bumped up the blacks to emphasize the vertical shapes. I like the way the old pier pilings on the Canadian side of the river are echoed by the industrial shapes on the American side.WorkingRiver5138179320365 photos3652010365photosDetroit RiverOctoberWindsorautumn
Industrial Art - Tribute to Our Past
2010 - Day 295. Oct. 22, 2010. Daily Shoot - Illustrate the idea of time in a photograph today. Be as literal or abstract as you want to be with your interpretation ( http://dailyshoot.com/assignments/341 ) . I spent the weekend in Windsor, Ontario. As I wandered along the Detroit River, I was hit with a wave of nostalgia at the sight of the 'working' river! Collingwood is situated on what once was a 'working' harbour. We built, launched and welcomed giant lakers to our harbour. Some of those same lakers can still be found carrying their freight on the rivers and lakes that form the Great Lakes waterways. These two statues, The King and Queen by sculptor Sorel Etrog ( http://www.citywindsor.ca/000356.asp?artist=etrog#etrog ) , can be found in Windsor's Odette Sculpture Park. "Etrog's sculpture probes the relationship between man and machinery and attempts to illustrate an expressive intersection between the individual and industrialism". To me they are a beautiful reminder of our industrial past.

I'm not sure if I can explain how I got from today's prompt to here, wherever 'here' is. My initial idea was to look for urban decay, identify the mood I wanted to convey in rust and grunge, yet still find an element of beauty. The problem is I simply don't live in that kind of urban environment. I liked the concept though, so I tried to apply it to the natural environment I frequent.
