Tonal Chaos
2010 - Day 265. Sept. 22, 2010.
Daily Shoot - Communicate chaos, disorganization or messiness in a photograph. Find some beauty in it ( http://dailyshoot.com/assignments/311 ) . (@divadeb88)
I've been living through a renovation for the past two months, so there's no shortage of 'chaos, disorganization and messiness' here. The problem I encountered in looking for a suitable shot is that at this stage, I can't see beauty in it :-(. On my walk this morning, I noticed that the dying Queen Anne's Lace fit the bill. The meadow's messy, but my eye was attracted to the colour palette, the blur of the stalks blowing in the wind, and the soft, overcast light.
Usually a fanatic about removing background noise, I emphasized it here by building up the layers of tonal chaos. First I added a slight sketch filter with my Fractalius plugin, and then I used the Topaz Adjust spicify filter. I like the moodiness of the end product.TonalChaos5015028566365 photos3652010365photosBlack Ash Creek TrailCollingwoodQueen Anne's LaceSeptemberautumndailyshootfallplantstrailsds311

Daily Shoot - Use a mirror as part of a composition in a photograph today. Show yourself in the image if you'd like ( http://dailyshoot.com/assignments/310 ) !
I'm fortunate to live in such a beautiful area. It's hard sometimes to know where to look to take it all in. I didn't take this shot while driving. As the car behind me was some distance away I stopped on the road and fired off the shot. I wish I'd thought to take my polarizing filter with me as it was fairly hazy.KeepYourEyestheroad5012742693365 photos3652010365photosSeptemberautumncardailyshootfallmirrorMeafordds310

Daily Shoot - Use a door or window as a framing device to contain a smaller scene today ( http://dailyshoot.com/assignments/303 ) .
For the second leg of our trip to visit schools in northern Alberta, we climbed into the back of vans that bounced through ruts and pot holes, and slid through deep mud. Today was the first leg of our 'road trip' to visit schools in northern Alberta. We had to get up at 4:00 am to catch a very small plane to Pelican Lake. It's the first day of a new school year in Ontario. Teachers, I wish for you a year of excitement and fulfillment as the lead learners in your classrooms!
Some of you will no doubt feel I was pretty heavy handed with the post processing here. I didn't have a clear vision of what I wanted when I started. It just kind of evolved. I applied a sketch filter, converted the photo to black and white and then selectively added back the colour. Daily Shoot - Welcome the new week (and holiday in the US) by making a bright cheery photo outdoors and posting it today ( http://dailyshoot.com/assignments/295 ) .
It rained most of the day today, and like the rest of the weekend was really windy. My garden is anything but 'bright and cheery' at the moment. I don't know what the problem is, but I can't 'see' bright and cheery today. I opted instead for 'bright' and some playtime in the digital sandbox to make me feel 'cheery '. This shot should be subtitled 'Break All the Rules'! I took shelter from a sudden shower under a pine tree.
