Winter Solstice
Dec. 21, 2015. Dozens of people walked Collingwood's Labyrinth yesterday in celebration of Winter Solstice.

Snow
Nov. 22, 2015. A quick 'capture the moment' kind of shot. Late afternoon sun broke through the clouds, illuminating the falling snow, just as a flock of Canada geese flew toward me. Exposure is all over the place and there's lots of lens flare, but I like the composition and I captured the moment :-)

Lake Effect
Nov. 22., 2015. The first lake-effect snow squalls of the season were pretty mild. The sky over the bay was dramatic just the same.

As the Sun Sets on Autumn
I love this poem by Stanley Horowitz:
"Winter is an etching,
spring a watercolor,
summer an oil painting
and autumn a mosaic of them all."
We're reaching the point now where the etching is emerging from the mosaic.autumnCollingwoodOntarioabstractcabbage leafmacroDiane Hammondtexture blendcomposite
Great Grey Owl #1
Taken at the Canadian Raptor Conservancy. The Great Grey Owls' parabolic facial discs make them appear wise, but are used to help locate and capture prey.

Great Horned Owl #2
Taken at the Canadian Raptor Conservancy. As beautiful as they are, you can't forget owls are powerful and vicious birds!

Barn Owl #2
Taken at the Canadian Raptor Conservancy. While their flat faces are not particularly attractive, the barn owl has beautiful plumage.

October Forest #2
O hushed October morning mild,
Thy leaves have ripened to the fall;
Tomorrow's wind, if it be wild,
Should waste them all.

Moonrise
Sept. 27, 2015. All I got of the once in a generation supermoon eclipse was a sliver of the supermoon, and then total cloud cover.

Tenants
Sept. 12, 2015. There are several generations of rabbits living in our yard. This is good news in that it means the coyotes have backed off a bit. These bunnies are a little strange though. They have very little fear. They come right up to the pool area, look in the patio door and let us approach to within a metre. I hope they're not planning on taking over :-).
Emergence
Taken in the Spring of 2014, this acrylic print is my donation to the Collingwood 'Foot Fetish' 2015 auction. Proceeds from the auction will benefit art students at Collingwood's High Schools.
