Feb. 28, 2016. I've been shooting landscape photos of the ice in the bay and along the shoreline this winter. Last Sunday I was surprised to see a solitary mute swan in a calm 'lagoon' in the ice flow. I didn't realize until I pulled my photos up in Lightroom that the swan's wing was broken. I went back to find it after the storm but didn't have much hope as that whole area was frozen over. The good news is that someone found the swan frozen into the ice and called Collingwood Fire Department. They rescued the swan and took it to a bird sanctuary near Stayner.
Feb. 27, 2016. When Mother Nature is this angry, it's best to just get out of the way.
