After the Rain
The setting sun chased away the last of the rain clouds.

Little Bird in a Big Sky
Although I had a longer lens with me I opted not to use it. I liked the ‘story’ of the tiny bird in the big sky.

Busy #3
My gardens are buzzing these days.

Awakening Pond
I was attracted to the geometric shapes of the dead rushes and their reflections on the pond. You can imagine how surprised I was when I looked at the shot on my computer screen and saw this little frog staring back at me! I pride myself on my powers of observation and am so embarrassed I missed this little guy :-(.

Winter Recedes #2
The driving range is starting to green up. You could ski and shoot a few balls today.

This is Spring?
My least favourite type of precipitation - freezing rain.

Where Did the Water Go?
High winds blew the ice pack back into the harbour this morning causing the open water to disappear pretty quickly.

Surreal
I took this shot this past week on the beach along the Bay of Banderas in Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico. It's a reflection on the wet sand of a couple walking toward me. I loved that the sky and clouds were reflected in the sand as well! I flipped the image vertically so it wouldn't look like a reflection. You can see the couple's feet now on the bottom. I like the surreal mood with the couple walking in a space that seems to be Earth, water and sky at once!

Summer Rain
Although it arrived via violent thunderstorm, today's rain was still appreciated.

Shattered
Macro shot of a globe formed from shattered glass and molten lead. I placed a candle in the globe and underexposed the image, giving me lots of black negative space. I punched up both the blacks and the contrast, giving the impression that the glass fragments are floating.

On Patrol
I love morning walks in my yard to check on the gardens. Clyde patrols the yard alongside me, making sure I’m safe from bunnies, squirrels or birds that might lie in ambush ;-) .

Ladybug, Ladybug
I use a texture blend here, contrasting a painterly background with the realistic insect.

In Flight
I really bumped up the contrast to give a graphic feel to the pelicans in flight.

Freezeup #3
Nottawasaga Bay is starting to freeze. It hasn't frozen over completely in many years, but the process has started much earlier than last year.
I went down to the waterfront with the idea of making a landscape photo, hoping to capture the texture of the ice and the full tonal range of the blues. Finding swans and geese on the ice was a bonus! I would have liked to get closer to the water's edge and find a lower POV, but had to settle for perching on the harbor wall.BirdsCollingwoodJanuaryNottawasaga Bayfreeze upiceswanswinterOntarioDiane Hammond

Fish Hut
You can just see the ski slopes of Blue Mountain beginning to appear beyond the fish hut as the morning ice fog burns off. Although we've had some mild temperatures this past week we're back to winter again, so I guess the fish huts will remain on the harbour for a bit yet.

Couples
There were lots of water fowl enjoying the now open waters of the harbour.
